OUR FATHER 1. Show #1—Our Father who art in heaven…Kick Off· The prayer, Our Father, is said so quickly we don’t know what we are really saying. We must concentrate and meditate on each word and phrase of this prayer to get the full impact—God is our father—father to each and every one of us. He loves us so much that He created us in His image and likeness. · The Father sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, “Abba, Father.” Gal. 4:6—His desire for us is His fatherly love and protective care. · What is our relationship and understanding of our Heavenly Father as compared to our earthly father? Red Zone· Misunderstanding of the Father—a far away god who has an eye on us—who has an enormous check list—who can’t wait to punish us for our offenses—fire and brimstone. OT· A better understanding—know the Father through the Son—the Son will lead us to the Father by His example of His relationship to God the Father.· What kind of father was our father? This will influence our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Personal love—healthy fear—wanting to please my dad and make him proud of me. It hurt him when I disappointed him. My own dad’s reaction to disappointment –our Heavenly Father loves us in spite of the many times I disappointed Him.End Zone· Men, many of us probably never really spent time, in all these years of being Catholic, on God the Father. I want you to research through scripture and the Catechism or any other materials and then, I want you to spend as much time as possible until the next show reflecting on this information.
